Starting A Program At Your Church
What you need to start:
How to run a practice
01
Start with a Bible study
First and foremost, quizzing is about getting youth into God's Word, helping them come to love and understand it better. Hold a Bible study on the week's passage at the beginning of each practice, turning rote memory into meaningful encouragement and teaching.
02
Have time for reciting verses
One on one time for quoting helps quizzers check their memory work for accuracy and gives coaches a chance to see how their quizzers are progressing. Quoting is an extremely important part of memorizing so make sure your quizzers are getting the chance to quote to someone outside of practice too!
03
Facilitate practice quizzes on the benches
Print out 15 question quizzes (check out the resources page for our question data base CBQZ) and go through them with your quizzers. Quizzing on the benches cements verses into the quizzers' minds, strengthens reflexes, and sharpens recall skills (plus is lots of fun!). It's very important to do practice quizzes so quizzers can be prepared for tournament quizzes.
